Apple was able to grab the headlines last week with its new iPad, refurbished Apple TV, and iOS 5.1 update.
Now, everyone waits for the release of their mobile phone iteration – the iPhone 5.
Even before Apple announced its new iPad, many speculated that the tablet will feature a 4G LTE connectivity.
Upon the company’s confirmation that the feature will be present on the device, multiple unnamed sources stated the upcoming iPhone model will also feature the same technology.
As reported by DigiTimes last Monday, sources from Taiwan-based smartphone manufacturers claimed that iPhone 5 will “very likely” have an embedded 4G LTE radio.
The report also mentioned that the much-awaited handset will hit the stores in the second half of this year.
If the DigiTimes report will turn out to be true, then it’s expected that smartphone manufacturers will definitely equip their devices with a 4G LTE technology.
In turn, this will boost the sales of LTE-enabled devices worldwide this year.
The World Wide Web carries a lot of rumors about iPhone 5’s possible features.
You should take this information as a grain of salt, but there’s no denying that Apple’s new handset will be said to have a significant edge over its competitors (as usual - true or not!).
- Retina Display:
The new iPad’s Retina Display boasts 2048 x 1536 resolution, and it’s expected that the iPhone 5 will carry a 3.7 – 4" Quantum Dot LED curved glass edge-to-edge screen.
There were also reports that the device will have a 1280 x 720 HD display with 367ppi pixel density.
- Processor:
The new iPad is powered by an A5X dual core CPU and quad core GPU.
Thus, it is assumed that the next iPhone will have a 1.2 to 1.5 GHz processor and at least 1GB of RAM.
- Camera:
Considering that Google's Android smartphones are coming out with an 8 megapixel camera, Apple’s iPhone 5 is expected to feature something similar or higher.
There are also rumors that the upcoming handset will boast a 3D camera.
- Near Field Communication Technology:
Previously, the New York Times reported that iPhone 4S would feature NFC technology.
But since it didn’t happen, the technology could very well be on the iPhone 5.
- Battery Life:
It’s deemed that Apple will release the new iPhone with an improved battery life, so that users can expect that the iPhone 5’s power will allow up to 8 hours of talk time on 3G and 14 hours on 2G.
Whether all or just parts of the rumored features for iPhone 5 will happen remains to be seen.
As of the moment, people can only wait until later this year for Apple’s announcement.

Your guess is as good as mine and anyone else's!
Remember, everyone was already expecting the iPhone 5 last year, and the... iPhone 4S was launched instead.
It means that no one knows if there will be an iPhone 5.
But we all love to speculate on what the next Apple gadget will be (check all the rumors around the iPad 3 which eventually became the 'new iPad'!).
If the iPhone 5 exists, I would say we could expect to see it exactly one year after the launch of the iPhone 4S - around October of this year.
But as Apple never says anything about their next product and launch period, I might be all wrong!
