Details are still light on HP's upcoming webOS tablet, which is currently being referred to as the PalmPad.
The device is in the news today as its manufacturer may have come to light:
According to Digitimes, who has been a bit hit or miss with their claims in the past, HP has tapped Inventec to produce 6 to 7 million "tablet telecommunication devices" in 2011.
Inventec is the manufacturer of the Barnes and Noble Nook Color eReader, which is expected to sell more than one million units to be shipped by the end of the year.
HP / Palm has said in the past that they're going to go all the way with webOS, and it's good to see that they're ordering so many tablets to be made.
It seems that HP / Palm feel like it's going to be a hit - which is what you'd expect to hear as this is their design, from hardware to Operating System (OS)!
Nevertheless, we still haven't seen the PalmPad, and we don't really know anything about it at all except that it's running the webOS Operating System.
So it is difficult to go crazy excited about it.
Until HP / Palm whips out the tablet for all the world to see, we'll just remain cautiously optimistic about the whole thing.
